Excerpt from Louisa's stories where she is writing about how military families care for one another and support each other as if they are part of one larger family:
"...In no time we felt like family, we were treated like family."
"Holiday's had a joy all to themselves. For Halloween, we all gathered outside our common courtyard and we took care of each other's kids.... For Thanksgiving and Christmas, we decorated....exchanged goodies and gifts...Our favorite memory was of July 4th, 2001. We h…

This is an excerpt from Erica's personal stories:
"I was also present with one of my dear friends while she delivered her first baby while her husband was gone. I was the first person to hold her daughter as she was delivered via C-section. It was emotional for both of us, for me because I didn't want to be the first one to hold her baby, and for her obviously, because her husband wasn't there."

Freedom- the ability to embrace free thought and the need to stand up for what you believe (whatever your take is on the current war situation pro-war or against it)
Freedom of thought,
Confined with limitations- I am not
Free will strong and true.
I do not pretend to have all the answeres. Of many questions I haven't a clue.
I will always fight for what is right- at least that much I know.
I live my life here and now. Let the freedom flow!

From Kari Deluna's papers:
Deployed soldiers have their own quarters (like their tiny little space in the world). An area designated to them where they sleep, dream, read letters, write letters, use their laptops to attend online college courses, etc..
My Special Place
I have this little corner space
Of which I call my special place
it is a sacred area all my own
This place where all my thoughts are sown
It is where my consciousness is realized
Where I view my true self undisguised
It i…

From Erica Herrera's pages:
After Jeremy left Ranger Battalion we moved to F. Rucker where he trained to be an Apache Pilot. We moved to Germany in September fo 2002 when our son Jake was 6weeks old. we were so excited to be moving to Europe and had tons of aspirations of travel and sightseeing...., but our time together was short lived...Jeremy left on February 6th that year,...They deployed in groups, and my best friend who had just given birth to her first baby said good bye to her husband a…

I will be posting some excerpts of the stories and poems I received from military families that have helped direct and shape the movement for The Willing.
I was fortunate to receive emails from women in Texas, Alaska and Alabama. I am very grateful to these women for sharing their stories with me. All of them wished to be named and are proud of their families' service:
Erica Herrera, age 30, mother, wife and friend of a soldier;
Luisa Sipple;
Kari Deluna, age 32, military ve…
